Precious Rubbish
This collection comments on the throwaway culture prevalent in Western society, challenging both the viewer and the wearer to question their relationship with society’s excess and waste.
The collection inverts the idea of what can be considered precious. Objects that were once disposable and almost worthless are recreated in precious materials using labour-intensive processes. Through this transformation, the material value and the labour invested in these objects alter how they are perceived, encouraging us to reconsider their worth and our relationship with them—perhaps to the point where we would consider wearing ‘rubbish’.
